Using a clock face method this video shows how to gain consistency in the run up and help kickers understand what happens when they run up from various different positions in relationship to power, hip swing, the core and ball flight/direction. Thanks to Harry Calverley for his kicking skills
The example is for a right footed kicker. Generally the more the player hooks the ball, the closer to 9 o’clock he should go to negate that. For players who consistently push the ball right they should go closer to the 6 o’clock position.
Care is needed to understand that foot placement (non striking) and foot contact (striking) and mental visualisation are NOT covered here but form part of the overall kicking jigsaw.
